    Foundation Coach Foundation Coach Courses / Foundation Coach Training Menu Back to Courses Student Handbook Code of Practice Group Bookings Online PD Funded Training Learner Portal Verify a Certificate Subscribe Course Enquiries Overview The Royal Life Saving Foundation Coach course provides candidates with essential competencies to Coach Pool Lifesaving Sport to individuals beginning or actively participation in Pool Lifesaving at a foundation level. Prerequisites To become a coach, candidates must be: Be 16 years or over Hold at least 1 relevant Aquatic Qualification A Royal Life Saving or Surf Life Saving Bronze Medallion; OR, First Aid and Perform Basic Water Rescue units of competency (HLTAID011 and SISCAQU002); OR, Pool Lifeguard Qualification; OR, School teacher with Bronze Facilitator Accreditation; OR, Royal life Saving NSW Junior Lifesaver Teacher; OR, Swimming and Water Safety Teacher Register and pay all course fees Delivery Mode: This interactive course is delivered in a blended format; it requires the completion of a self-paced online knowledge component followed by a 1 day practical face to face workshop. This course is delivered fully online. The course is comprised of 4 modules including an assessment task (submission of 2 x session plans). In addition to the successful completion of the online and face to face components of the course, candidates are required to complete on-the-job coaching hours in a range of coaching conditions in order to obtain a Foundation Coach Licence. This on-the-job assessment ensures the Foundation Coach is able to apply the skills learnt in the training course at their Aquatic Facility. The on-the-job component needs to be signed off by a Royal Life Saving Development or High Performance Coach. Certification: Upon successful completion of all assessment requirements, candidates will be issued a Royal Life Saving NSW/ACT/TAS Foundation Coach Award and 3 year Coaching Licence. Renewing your Licence Licensing is valid for three years. Community Educators deliver a range of programs targetted to different audience groups, all centered around drowning prevention education.
